Indian Classical - base for good performances

I was exploring random Piano Pieces on youtube, and suddenly I found some songs 'Laga chunari mein daag' and 'Jaane kaha gaye wo din' played by raga pianist Utsav lal. These peices were played in concert by this 15 yr old boy, and I was so impressed by him that I want to follow the way of his learning. After exploring a lot, I got to know, classical training is the base for this kind of performances. I never showed interest in indian classical before, because I didn't know anything about it. But I tried to see theory of indian classical like Ragas, Taal and all. I just started. I listened few ragas as well like raga yaman, hamsadhwani. And I also listened hamsadhwani palyed by utsav on piano. I was so impressed by this that I digged into hamsadhwani and related theory. And these peices or music theory are so great that you can proceed in right direction by following this theory. Raga played on piano with tabla is so enthralling that I decided to learn atleast one raga and improvise this. It is the best part that you can experiment as much as you can on indian classical. And it appears very impressive as well.
The simple irritating 'aaAAaa..' sung by some pandits used to bore a lot, but how important and how indepth practice needed for that to come out, i now understand, and it is very very important to know all these things for a player to perform. Why sonu nigam is better than other singer, simply because he is strong in classical. He say 'if classical is strong then every thing will go right'.

Unfaithful - Rihanna

As I am passionate about piano. I listen every other music to find piano pieces. I have tried some japanese, kannad preludes apart from English, Hindi. But this song Unfaithful has stuck in my mind. I have been listening this song for last two days continuosly. And continuously practising piano pieces in that song. Let's discuss about this song more. Lyrics are very good. Music is too good, tabla gives very nice touch. Piano and violin makes the song very soothing and touching. Voice of rihanna off course is different.
I like those english songs, where song's melody and music behind doesn't come in one way. For example if you hear 'Good bye my lover - James blunt' there arpeggio used is completely out of way from melody. It is very difficult for a player to sing and play simultaneously for this kind of song unlike hindi songs. What I feel that now hindi songs also are full of music. Rehman tries maximum no of instrument as far as I know. So it's good to hear that we are also progressing. Old songs, yes , very melodious, very good music, but instruments played were very less and variation also very less.

Ok come back to thing song, this song is on C minor scale. Broken chords are used. It's very fun to play this. This song consists 3 patterns, 1 intro pattern very easy to play. 2nd bridge, that's what people call it. This part is the most exciting and loving part for me. And last part is chorus, which is slightly difficult for beginers like me, because it has lots of keys to play using both hand and quite fast as well and covers two complete octave on piano. There are few trick part also. which gives nice touch to the song. I am kind of stuck in this last part, hopefully learn this as soon as possible.

guitar mania over piano

One's desperation towards learning guitar is much more than looking at other instrument. I met so many people and not a single person i found who says I am gonna start learning piano. Almost everybody prefered guitar. Why so preference for guitar ? My guess, this is just my guess, is that more than a instrument we focus on personality or image exposed by having a guitar in your hand rather than a piano. If I am going to learn something, first I will visualize myself on the stage playing that instrument and then I will choose that instrument. Why don't we choose tabla or say flute. Very few from childhood or with some extreme interest are having these instruments as their choice, even if they would have started learning in adult age, they must have chosen guitar, I am 99.99% sure. I think, more than impression, we should concentrate on the music. Each instrument is unique, there is no comparision. The person who actually play one instrument never differ to play other. He will surely have interest to learn almost every other instrument.
